Microdermabrasion is a technical name for what is essentially a deep exfoliating procedure which helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation problems, uneven skin tones, and a dull, lifeless, sun-damaged complexion. It is a gentle treatment to the whole of the facial skin and is also helpful in the treatment of both active acne and mild acne scarring.
Microdermabrasion is commonly combined with other treatments such as chemical peels and injectable treatments.
Microdermabrasion provides a safe and effective treatment for:
- Reduction of fine lines and wrinkles
- Pigmentation and age spots
- Sun damaged skin
- Loss of elasticity
- Smokers skin
- Acne and acne scarring
- Stretch marks
Microdermabrasion treatment takes around 45 minutes, depending on the area being treated. Optimal results are seen after a course of 3-6 treatments, usually with 1 or 2 weeks between treatments, however the skin will feel firmer and look healthier after just one treatment. Microdermabrasion treatment isn’t painful and there is minimal downtime of this treatment, the skin may look slightly pink following treatment but otherwise normal activities can be resumed. It is advised to use sun protection following microdermabrasion treatment to protect the skin.
