Anti-wrinkle injections

Botulinum toxin is used in cosmetic dermatology treatments by injecting directly into overactive muscles to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. There are various brands of botulinum toxin available for cosmetic use including BOTOX®, Azzalure® and Bocouture®. All of these work in much the same way and are effective for wrinkle treatments.

Hyperactivity of the facial expression muscles often results in the development of deep frown lines, forehead lines and/or crow's feet. These are the areas most commonly treated with botulinum toxin. Some lines around the nose, mouth and chin as well as muscle bands on the neck can also be treated. Injecting botulinum toxin into the affected area temporarily paralyses the underlying muscles responsible for wrinkling, giving the face a more relaxed and pleasant appearance. The wrinkles become smoother or disappear altogether. The effect of treatment generally lasts for three to six months. Repeat treatment is then required.

Our specialist doctors aim to provide a relaxed natural look that maintains your natural expressions while boosting your confidence.

Dermal Fillers

Fillers are products which are injected into the skin or under the skin to restore volume lost from the face as we age and to soften the appearance of deep wrinkles, coarse lines and folds. Fillers may also be used to plump up the volume of lips.

Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Fillers are the most popular and are made from Hyaluronic Acid (HA), a natural component of skin. These products have proven themselves to be very safe over many years. Whilst there are a large number of HA fillers on the market we prefer to use just a few that we know are both highly safe and effective. The most popular HA filler in our clinic is the Juvederm Ultra  and Restylane ranges.

The effects of HA fillers will last up to 12-15 months for most injection areas. Injections into the lips generally last around 6-9 months.
Permanent Fillers are products which do not degrade in the skin. At St. Michael's Clinic we do not use any permanent filler products as we believe the risks to be higher and there is a risk that any adverse effects will be permanent.

The effects of all our cosmetic procedures can be enhanced with our range of cosmeceutical products. Ask your doctor or nurse for more information.
