We understand many of you will have concerns about the current outbreak of Covid-19 and we would like to share with you the new measures we have put in place to protect our patients, staff and the public at this time. We will continue to treat patients but have updated our processes to follow Government advice. Our clinic is now open for all skin cancer, dermatology and cosmetic consultations and procedures.
The waiting times for NHS services have increased considerably from when we had to cancel clinics at the end of March and over the past 3 months, so we ask for patience as we reopen. The number of patients we will be able to see is also reduced currently, due to the cleaning regimes and new checks that we are performing. Powys Local Health Board have not yet confirmed they wish us to commence seeing their patients in clinic and so we are unable to offer NHS appointments to Welsh patients where a visit to the clinic is required.
Patients awaiting a private appointment will be contacted by Becky, Lucy or Jane. Anyone wishing to book a private appointment should telephone 01743 590010 or e mail email@example.com. We anticipate a large number of calls in the next few weeks, so e mail may be a quicker option.
Where possible, we are still recommending that patients have a telephone or video consultation as an alternative to coming into clinic. Clinicians will contact patients by telephone or video, review your condition and offer advice and treatment.
If you are attending one of our clinics, the consultants and other clinical staff will be wearing Personal Protective Equipment(PPE). PPE is a necessary measure to reduce the risk of virus transmission and is for your protection, as well for the protection of our team.
We will also ask you to wear PPE – gloves and a face mask. These will be provided for you when you visit reception.
You may receive an additional phone call prior to your appointment from a member of our team, who will ask you about any current symptoms you may have, whether you have been in contact with a suspected or confirmed Covid-19 case, or whether you have any underlying health conditions that may put you in a high risk category. We request that you return your registration form prior to your appointment, which will now also include questions relating to Covid-19.
Our clinics are being carefully scheduled to allow social distancing and cleaning between patients. A member of the team will advise where to sit when you arrive for your appointment in order for us to maintain maximum distance between patients in any waiting area.
We ask that you do not arrive any earlier than 5 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time so that our waiting areas do not get too busy. We also ask that you attend appointments on your own where possible, or advise us on your registration form if you plan to bring someone along with you.
On entering a clinic, you may be asked to have your temperature taken. A fever is one of the main symptoms of Coronavirus; if you have a high temperature we may ask you to return home and we will reschedule your appointment at a later date or as a video consultation if appropriate.
If you have any concerns about accessing or attending a clinic we are happy to answer any questions via phone or email prior to your appointment.
We have always prided ourselves on providing the very best experience for our patients and in these uncertain times we remain committed to this ideal. Through The Dermatology Partnership (TDP) we are members of the IHPN (Independent Healthcare Partners Network) which is the industry body for independent/private sector partners to the NHS and sits within the NHS Confederation. We have regular update conference calls with the sector on the current situation. We will be constantly reviewing the advice and update you with further information or developments.
We thank you for your understanding during this difficult time and when the time is right, we look forward to welcoming you back to our clinics.
