A thread lift is an advanced minimally-invasive alternative to a surgical face lift. It is particularly useful to improve jowls, loose skin on the neck and contour the jawline. The procedure works by medical-grade dissolvable threads being inserted into the treatment area and then pulled to tighten the thread in target areas. Once the thread has been inserted, the body’s healing response is triggered and stimulates collagen production which can fill the gaps in sagging skin and restore a more youthful elasticity to your face.

The threads we use are made from absorbable medical suture material, which has been in use for years in surgery. Most patients get an immediate benefit, which improves over 3 months.
Before the treatment you will be given local anaesthetic and any discomfort is usually minimal. Thread lifts are considered a low risk procedure but you are likely to be sore and your face may be swollen for at least a few days afterwards. We therefore recommend that you take it very easy for at least 4 days after the procedure and avoid heavy physical activities for 2 weeks.
We use Silhouette Soft cone threads, which are made in the USA and are approved by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA). This gives our patients excellent reassurance on quality and efficacy. Results from a thread lift will be seen straight away and typically last between one and three years.
Four-weeks after the procedure, further isolated threads or subtle dermal filler may be required to achieve maximum benefit and a truly natural looking result. The procedure is carried out by Dr Thorsteinsson, who has carried out thousands of facial surgical and aesthetic procedures over the past 8 years, including complex reconstructive surgery after skin cancer. The price of the procedure and treatment plan will vary according to the needs of each patient and you will be provided with full costing at your assessment appointment.
Thread lifting results in:
- Increased collagen formation
- Tissue adhesion
- Tighter, lifted skin
